Lionel Messi left his teammate Kylian Mbappe speechless on the bench with his sublime free kick against OGC Nice on Saturday, October 1. The Argentine has been in scintillating form this season for PSG scoring seven goals and getting eight assists in his first 12 games of the campaign.
He is proving to be an asset for Christopher Galtier’s side, a fact that manifested itself once again in PSG’s latest Ligue 1 game.
The maestro would get a second chance 15 minutes later, when his side got another free kick, this time a few yards closer to goal. It initially looked like it would be Neymar who would take the set piece, but the Brazilian, who enjoys a great relationship with Messi, allowed the 35-year old to have a second stab, and it proved to be the right decision. Messi’s flying free kick found the top corner, with Nice goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel practically rooted to the spot.
