Newcastle ready Anthony Gordon bid

Anthony Gordon is a wanted man again

Sources have told footballmint that Newcastle have been doing their homework on Gordon and have been pleased with the reports that have come back on him.

Magpies boss Eddie Howe has admitted he would like some Premier League experience coming into his squad this month, and Gordon does offer that with over 60 top-flight games under his belt.

Everton need to bolster their finances this month in order to bring in other players, such as Villarreal’s Arnaut Danjuma, and Gordon is one of those they can use to raise funds.

Gordon was the subject of bids from Chelsea in the summer, and footballmint understands that interest remains and the Blues are keeping abreast of developments with Newcastle, along with other Premier League clubs such as Aston Villa, Leicester and Nottingham Forest.

Interestingly, Gordon may not be the only Everton player that Newcastle and Chelsea go head-to-head on as footballmint understands that they have both also asked about midfielder Amadou Onana.

The 21-year-old Belgian only joined Everton in the summer in a £33m deal from Lille and he has impressed during their challenging first half of the season, but there is now a chance he could be in for a shock move this summer – although it remains to be seen whether Everton would contemplate allowing him to leave.
